If you’re just starting an exercise regime, don’t push yourself too hard on the first day. Take it slowly and build up to heavier workouts. It’s not going to do you much good if the 1st day you go out to the beach and run 3 miles if it makes you too sore to do any exercise at all for over a week.
If you need to work up to your exercise goal, then go a tiny bit further each day and you’ll still reach your target. If you can only walk to the shop on the 1st day, then do that and go little bit further the second day. As long as you are consistently working to your workout goal it doesn’t matter how long it takes you to get there. It just matters that you finally get there in the end.
Don’t think of exercise as a hassle. Perhaps at first it might seem hard and maybe even a little bit discouraging (there’s not much worse than huffing and puffing to make it around the corner just to have a young skinny runner blast right passed you) but never give up!
Exercise each and every day for thirty straight non-stop – every single day, not one exception – and you will feel so invigorated and re-livened and pleased with yourself that you will always want to exercise from now on. As a matter of fact you’ll hardly be able to wait to exercise every morning when you get out of bed. Don’t believe me? Try it for thirty straight days and you’ll see for yourself. I double-dare you.
How about trying to sneak some more exercise right into your daily routine. Take the stairs instead of the elevator every single time… just ban yourself from the elevator. Park a little bit further away from the shop entrance so you have to walk that much further. Clean your car by yourself. Walk around while you are making a call on the phone. Do leg lifts, squats or pedal an exercise bike while you watch your favorite HBO show.
There are so many options, and very few excused not to get started ASAP.
